The neighborhood that Carrie and I live in is called Francisco Rosario Sanchez, or as we refer to it- the “cul-de-sac.”
It is a middle class neighborhood by

San Juan standards.
Most of the families have all of their basic needs met and more.
It can be a challenging place to do ministry because sometimes when people have stuff, they don’t see their need for Christ.
Recently, we expanded our ministry in this area to several streets that are behind our house.
These streets are slightly poorer, and expanding to this area has given us a unique opportunity to minister to and bring together two different classes.

This past Saturday was probably the best day of ministry that we have experienced in the cul-de-sac.
Our group of six started off our afternoon of ministry by praying for the area: for specific people, specific needs, for the church we are hoping to plant, and for a neighbor who lost a loved one.
After we finished praying a friend of ours arrived at the door.
Roberto is fifteen years old and speaks English pretty well.
His aunt lives on our street, so he is in the neighborhood often.
The gentleman that had passed away was his grandfather.
There was to be a funeral in two hours.
He sat in our den and told us about his grandfather.
He wept as he told us about how his death, but he believed that his soul was with Christ in heaven.
What ensued was a great conversation about life and life after death.
God has begun a good work in Roberto.
Pray for him and his family.
Pray for peace and joy in Christ.
Pray that they would continue to seek God and find Him.
Pray for my role in this young man’s life.

Our day did not stop there.
We then left our house and went to play with kids on the street behind us.
What ensued was a baseball game with about 25 kids.
As we played some of the girls sat with and talked to the women.
After the game I had the opportunity to talk to some of the men in the area that were watching.
I was able to tell them why we were there and that we were starting a church in our house if they would like to come.
They were very responsive to what I had to say and excited about the possibility of meeting in someone’s home to hang out and talk about God.
I think it was a new concept to them.

The Lord really blessed our day in the cul-de-sac, and I believe that it is the beginning of a great work He going to do there.
God has given us a unique opportunity to show his love to two different socio-economic classes.
Pray that our love and ministry to both groups of people would spur them to love and minister to each other better.
Pray that our example would draw them closer to a relationship with Jesus.
